blog post

I have made some strides in my GAME plan and hits some ruts in other parts of my GAME plan.  Using technology requires large amounts of planning and this time of the year is a hard time to plan.  I have because I am coaching two sports teams and the christmas holiday.  Again it is no excuse but I am using other methods that require less planning.  They are not lecture note test style but rather a style that is not using technology as much.

  1. Craig,
I agree that using technology can be very time consuming! If you are like me, I often read and learn about new technology and become anxious to use it in my classroom, but then I have to slow down because of the planning time required. It can be tempting to jump on the bandwagon in regard to new technology, but we have to take time to develop its use in our classroom. On the bright side, once we have planned for it, sometimes technology can lessen the time burden. For example, last year was the first year I used Google Docs, but now my documents are there and ready to go for future use. Once my classroom blog was set up, it is easy to maintain. Hang in there!

  2. I also agree that using technology can be VERY time consuming. I am having the same problem myself. It seems that we get so inundated and overwhelmed with the technology that we just do not know where to begin. But, just try to integrate one piece of technology at a time. If it means taking your students to the computer lab to let them type up a paper using Word, that is ok. You have taken the traditional pencil and paper out of their hands.

    Good luck with your coaching!

  3. I know that technology can be time consuming when you think of all the planning and details that need attending to before you can implement the activity. The students respond well to it though with much enthusiasm. I don't know if you have the difficulty that we have at our school with having technology available to us with only one computer lab. Keep on trying and good luck with all you have to do.
